UWF VOLLEYBALL 2010
9-27 UWF 3, Florida
Southern 2
Everyone has played
volleyball. We played it in gym class—can it really be that long
ago? I think Matthew Brady photographed our games.
Volleyball was so simple. You hit the ball back and forth until
someone miss-hit the ball. Yawn. If that's your experience
with volleyball, you're in for a pleasant surprise. The modern
game is one of strategy and athleticism. It's fast-paced
and exciting. Players dive and leap. They throw themselves in the
way of a speeding ball and, as you'd expect, they endure occasional
pain and injury.
I took about 150 photos of the UWF victory over highly ranked Florida Southern. I've uploaded a sample. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Obviously, there are many
aspects to the game. It appears that the glory and glamour would
be at (read: above) the net. That part is certainly
exciting. However, it is also quite clear that games are also won
and lost at serving, setting up, and returning the powerful smashes
from the opponent. The skill and agility of these players is also
exciting to watch.
