TAX WARNING

A TAX WARNING: We have found that contributing these huge sums to scholarship programs has done wonders for our income tax situation. You as the recipient will probably not feel this same sense of wonder unless you structure the scholarship in a way friendly to your own Federal, State and Local income tax situation. You may wish to talk to your accountant (unless his accounting degree was from EU). Our legal people are prepared to handle your situation by listing your funding as an outright scholarship, a study stipend, a gift, or our personal favorite: a bookkeeping error.

HOW DO WE DO IT?
The answer is simple. We are a private college with an endowment and very low overhead. You have provided your own room and board and paid for your own education through life credits. This saves the institution quite a bit in terms of hiring staff etc. Some would argue that your degree is free. We disagree. Sure, you will have a scholarship and significant income from our Earn As You Learn program and will owe us nothing--but didn't your life experiences, which you presented for life credits, cost you a lot? We also save huge amounts of money by avoiding the intrusive legalities of using the US Mail for our activities. By E-Mailing everything through a filtering address of a small ship drifting in the Gulf Of Mexico, we can avoid the unpleasantness and red tape we would encounter in the States.

Athletes please note: If you are considering applying to EU for an athletic scholarship it would be helpful (but not required) that you have a favorite sport in which you excel. EU has a unique athletic record and stands ready to field teams in any sport or to create new sports if necessary.
